An empty picking slot creates a commercial choice
A customer order may contain an available item and a second SKU still waiting for a factory delivery. fulfillmentyx’s order workflow asks the seller to define how that situation should be handled before routine picking begins.
The warehouse can hold the order, release an approved partial shipment or follow another agreed rule. Each option affects customer communication, packaging and shipping charges. Availability alone is not authority to choose the outcome.
Record the decision at item level
The instruction should identify which order lines may leave, which remain open and whether the customer has agreed to separate deliveries. Tracking references need to remain associated with the correct shipment and quantities.
A later restock should not accidentally create a duplicate shipment for an item already dispatched. The order record needs a clear view of completed work, remaining demand and any cancellation or refund instruction supplied by the seller.
Test the exception before normal volume
An onboarding test can include a deliberately incomplete order to check the store record, warehouse instruction and tracking return. The test should also confirm who resolves a stock difference discovered during picking.
The systems and account support service can help define the connection and exception process. A sales platform’s split-fulfillment feature does not prove that a specific warehouse connection carries every required field; the actual workflow needs to be demonstrated.
