Protective packing has a separate compliance question
A strong wooden crate may protect a machine while still requiring a separate review for international shipment. IPPC’s ISPM 15 resources explain measures addressing pest risks associated with regulated wood packaging. fulfillmentyx includes the packaging material in the cargo brief for crated loads.
The review should identify what wood packaging is being used and the destination requirements that apply. The handling team should not assume that a pallet is suitable for export because it was previously used for a domestic delivery.
Ask the packing supplier for the relevant evidence
The party supplying the crate or pallet should be able to explain the applicable treatment and marking arrangements. A logistics team should not add a certification-style mark simply to complete a shipment photograph.
Material choices also affect the physical plan. The base must support the cargo, provide suitable lifting access and work with the proposed securing arrangement. Any change in the crate dimensions or weight needs to reach the transport quotation.
Check the finished package before collection
The outbound review can compare the agreed crate specification, lifting instructions and required supporting information with the completed load. Marks and packaging condition should remain visible where required.
The oversized cargo workflow brings packing and handling questions into the same discussion. Sellers should confirm destination-specific wood-packaging requirements with the responsible packing and clearance parties before dispatch; the presence of timber alone does not establish the applicable treatment for every material or destination.
