At a glance
Amazon FBA preparation connects the seller's current shipment instructions with the physical units and cartons leaving China. Check product identification, any product-specific preparation and outbound carton labels as separate tasks. A correct label on the wrong variant still produces a wrong shipment.
Start with the current seller instructions
Create the shipment through the current Amazon workflow and provide the preparation team with the relevant files and destination instructions. Requirements vary by product and marketplace. Amazon's official prep guidance is a useful starting point, while the instructions for the actual shipment should control the work.
Identify who owns the listing and barcode decisions. The warehouse can apply approved labels, but should not guess which product identifier belongs to a similar SKU. Keep seller SKUs, warehouse SKUs and the required Amazon identifiers in a reviewed mapping.
Approve the unit-level match
For each variant, compare the physical product with the approved reference and label file. Size, color, set quantity and packaging version can distinguish items that look almost identical at a glance. Resolve conflicting supplier markings before applying labels at scale.
Ask for a first prepared sample or photographic confirmation when a new instruction is introduced. Check readability and placement against the applicable requirement. Do not treat a photo of one approved unit as evidence that every unit in the batch was checked.
Specify the preparation work
Some goods need additional protective or product-specific preparation. Define what work is requested, what materials are approved and who provides any warnings or compliance information. Confirm whether the task includes opening retail packaging and whether that affects the product's saleable condition.
Keep preparation quantities separate from received quantities. Goods can be in the China warehouse but still await inspection, materials or instructions. The shipping plan should use the quantity that is actually ready for release.
Build carton records from the final pack
| Checkpoint | What to reconcile |
|---|---|
| Product identity | Physical variant, warehouse SKU and approved product identifier |
| Prepared quantity | Units completed, held and excluded |
| Carton contents | SKU quantities assigned to each final shipping carton |
| Carton identity | Current shipment labels matched to the correct cartons |
| Release record | Actual carton count, dimensions, weight and handover reference |
If cartons are repacked after their records are created, update the records and labels as needed before dispatch. Do not reuse labels from an earlier shipment because the destination looks familiar.
Close the warehouse handoff
Request the preparation completion record and agreed dispatch evidence. Distinguish the China warehouse's release from arrival and receiving at Amazon. Those are later milestones, and a carrier delivery record does not by itself establish that every unit is available for sale.
fulfillmentyx supports inspection, labeling and FBA preparation in China. Share product photographs, SKU mapping, the current shipment files, quantities and required preparation to discuss the task. Confirm the scope for the specific marketplace before shipping goods into the preparation flow.
Frequently asked questions
Can the warehouse choose the Amazon barcode for me?
The seller should provide and approve the correct identifier and mapping. The preparation team should flag a mismatch rather than infer the correct listing from a product's appearance.
Are product labels and carton labels interchangeable?
No. They identify different parts of the shipment. Follow the current unit and carton instructions for the actual product, marketplace and shipping plan.
Does dispatch from China mean FBA inventory is ready to sell?
No. Transport, clearance, delivery and Amazon receiving still follow. Track those milestones separately from warehouse preparation completion.
